Review – For these tasks, I drew inspiration from elements surrounding me and aspects of my Indian culture, creating hyper-realistic artworks that hold personal significance. I chose to depict samosas, a favorite Indian snack, as they’re a staple in my daily life, I often have one for breakfast, with chai. Using colored pencils, I focused on capturing both color and texture, from the fiber-like wooden surface to the crispy, golden exterior of the samosas. This artwork was a technical challenge that required time and patience to achieve the desired level of realism.
Another subject that inspired me was my sneaker collection, particularly a pair of my favorite shoes. As a sneakerhead, I found it fascinating to capture the details of the materials, from the suede texture to the wrinkles in the white leather. Reproducing the puffy effect of the tongue and the softness of the suede contributed to a more comprehensive material study.
In addition, I created a few quick sketches of my room, observing the shapes and forms of objects around me. This exercise allowed me to work more loosely, freeing my style and focusing less on perfection. Overall, this project encouraged me to blend technical skill with personal expression, exploring familiar themes in new ways and allowing for more creative freedom in my work.
