Reflection
I started this “Talking Colour” task by exploring different aspects of London, such as the Tate Museum, artworks, Street Scene, and the underground. I went to the Tate Museum and I was inspired by Sarah Sze work. I use mixed media drawn from different angles. When I look at her works “seamless”, it is quite interesting, she works with objects, space, and scale, and she kind of creates a space that lets people follow rhythm and dynamics to look into her work. And form the “Talking pattern” task, I was inspired by the National Museum of China. For these both tests, I was inspired by their colour, pattern and structure. For the architecture, I used watercolour and fineliner pen to experiment, and for some of the artworks, I experimented with oil pastel and watercolour. I think the results are quite nice. For this Test, I used oil pastels to draw. In the beginning, I only used a few colours to experiment with the pattern. I focused on the shape and different combinations. The results turn out quite nicely, but I think maybe experimenting with more colour is a great idea. Therefore, My favorite outcomes are inspired by “Fu Hao” Bronze Zun(wine vessel) in the shape of an Owl. I tried to use view finder to find what was interesting. I think the bold contrast colour works quite successfully.
These two tests let me experiment with different media and techniques, but I think I should use some other materials, such as acrylic, colour pencils, not just watercolour and oil pastels, in my safe space. I should explore more mixed media combinations. And experiment with some quick abstract drawings. Also, I should experiment with different kinds of texture paper, the outcome might be very interesting.
